This book is about a young girl, Kelly, who goes to New York City, and while there a local firefighter befriends her. They marry. September 11, 2001, happens and he struggles with himself. He goes for counseling and it does not help. The counselor suggests they go to a small, quiet town so he can have time to think. While they are there, they run into more problems. He leaves his wife and then a miracle happens.
