Darby Downswallow and His Bumblebee (Paperback)

Darby Downswallow is a brave elf-fairy who travels with his bumblebee named Pip. He goes to Shrew's Berry town to visit Shirley, a beautiful pillywiggin. She lives by herself in a big silver tree. Though Shirley has her own pair of butterfly wings, she is terrified to fly. She must learn to overcome her fear, and Darby is there to help her do it. The story is written in rhyme and incorporates vivid characters as well as the very human theme of overcoming one's fears. It takes place in a fairy-wood setting that will challenge children to use their imaginations as they follow Darby on his adventures through Shrew's Berry town.
