Jay Thomas is the former head football coach at Nicholls State University. He had an overall 27-35 record since 2004. Thomas was fired on November 20, 2009 and it was announced on January 5, 2010 that Charlie Stubbs would replace him as head coach. Thomas is currently the defensive line coach at Northwestern State University. Thomas is an alumnus of the University of Southern Mississippi. Prior to receiving the head coach position, Thomas served as an assistant at Southeast Missouri State University, Nicholls State, and Louisiana State University, as well as a high school coach.
