The Financial Circumstances of Families with Disabled Children Living in Private Households, Report 5 (Paperback)

Families with disabled children are less likely than the general population of families to have earned income, and parents in such families have, on average, lower incomes than other parents. Using the family as the basic unit for data collection and analysis, this report describes the characteristics for the families of disabled children which are relevant to their financial circumstances, and examines income from earnings, benefits and other sources, to provide a full an detailed account of the ways in which a child's disability can affect the financial situation of the family as a whole. As well as looking at the impact of a child's disability on parents' earnings, it also aims to establish the extent of expenditure incurred as a result of disability. It should be of interest to all those working with disabled children living in private households.
