John Rothwell Slater (1872-1965) was an American professor and author. He studied at Harvard University, graduating in 1894, was the managing editor of The World Today in Chicago until 1905, and became a professor of English at the University of Rochester. His works include: Freshman Rhetoric (1913) and Printing and the Renaissance (1921).
