Pure Indigenous Lemon Bush Essential Oil


This erect woody shrub has small yellowish-white flowers that form heads on dense clusters. The hairy leaves have pronounced veins with a strong aromatic lemon smell. It grows in large parts of South Africa particularly on the East coast.

Common Indigenous Names: Fever Tea/Lemon Bush/Cape Verbena (English), Musukudu, Bokhukhwane (Tswana), inZinziniba (Xhosa), umSuzwane (Zulu), Koorsbossie/Lemoenbossie (Afrikaans).

Directions for use
- Add 3 drops of Lemon Bush Essential Oil to a warm bath.
- To use Lemon Bush in an Aromatherapy massage, add 4-6 drops to 50 ml carrier oil of choice.
- Use in an oil burner or cold mist diffuser for a beautifully relaxing aroma to refresh your room and uplift your spirits
- If you'd like to apply it on your skin or hair, add 3 - 5 drops of Lemon Bush Oil to 50 ml carrier oil of choice.

Caution: Essential Oils should not be taken internally. Add to a carrier oil as a massage oil, rub onto temples, use as a burner oil, in the bath or as a steam inhalation. Essential oils are not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding or on small babies.

  • Known as Fever Tea, the plant has traditionally been used for a number of ailments. Most popularly for fever, persistent coughs, colds and chest ailments. In addition it is commonly used for skin rashes, head lice, stomach problems, headaches and to soothe sore muscles. Its strong fragrance makes it an effective insect repellent, particularly against moths and mosquitoes.
