The State Level Public Enterprises (SLPEs) are the vehicles of economic development for various states of the Indian Union. This book makes an effort to study the SLPEs in Andhra Pradesh in totality. This book is based on the study of 36, large, medium and small sized, enterprises of Andhra Pradesh. Tracing the historical origins of the SLPEs in Andhra Pradesh, this study examines the performance of these enterprises. The study provides a number of suggestions for superior performance of these enterprises ranging from professionalisation, role of the Chairman and Managing Director, formulation of training modules, internal performance evaluation, installing a scientific MIS to the removal of duplication of the activities, deployment of new methods to increase the turnover, optimizing the size of the board, introduction of MoU, creation of a new work culture, interface with capital market and workers' participation in decision making.
