It was a great mercy to her and her friends, that she was not exercised with much pain, nor perplexed with any fears or doubts. Sensible that her dissolution was approaching, she contemplated it without dismay. No expression of fear or regret escaped her lips. Nothing appeared to disturb her spirit, in its departing moments. Calm and serene, resigned to the will of God, and resting on his arm, she quietly fell asleep in Jesus, and closed a short life of exemplary piety, in peace, on the 30th of November, 1822, being a few days short of 20 years of age. Miss Mallabone was buried in the same tomb with her father and sister. It was designed, had there been room, to have had the following lines engraved upon the stone, but that not being the case, for the satisfaction of her friends, they are here preserved. "If, passenger, you stop and wish to know Whose corpse lies mould'ring in the vault below," Learn 'tis the maid's, whose early life adorn'd The path of truth which many others scorn'd. On wings of faith and hope, while here, she soar'd, And long'd to be where Jesus is ador'd. Her wish is crown'd --But what is thy desire 1 Dost thou, like her, to heav'nly bliss aspire?
