President Obama and Iran - Engagement, Isolation, Regime Change (Electronic book text)

President Obama and Iran was preceded by "President Obama and Iraq." Published in 2010, the latter depicts regime change via U.S. military force. All American troops have withdrawn from Iraq, the U.S. military is posed to withdraw from Afghanistan by 2014, and attention turns to Iran. Entering the White House, President Obama reached his hand out to engage the Iranian regime, but only received a clenched fist from the Iranian leadership. He shifted to isolating Tehran with sanctions, while keeping open the option of military action against Iranian nuclear sites and Tehran s military forces if it closed the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, through which some 20% of the world s oil flows. A theme of President Obama and Iran is that the president can encourage a Color Revolution in Iran like the Rose Revolution in Georgia and Orange Revolution in Ukraine; empowering the Iranian people to change the Iranian regime from within requires removal of the main Iranian opposition organization, which rejects clerical rule, from the U.S. terrorist list; then this group can join pro-democracy Iranian dissidents to change the regime from within.
