I have roughly taken that point at the middle of the year A.H. 2083; and if this hypothesis be strictly accurate, the date in the Antitype, corresponding to the date of Terah's death, will be about the commencement of the year A.H. 2923. Now about this time, as I have already observed0, occurred the capture of the Ark by the Philistines, and the death of Eli. There are some grounds for supposing that the capture of the Ark took place a few years later than A.H. 2923; and if 1t did so, strict parallelism would require that Abraham's 73rd year, reckoned from his birth, had closed (and consequently that Abraham's birth had occurred) in some month earlier than Nisan. In the former Table of Abraham's years I have tentatively put the capture of the Ark at about the year A.H. 2925. But no contradiction, either of the narrative in Genesis, or of the principles of the former Table, would be involved, if the capture of the Ark was dated a few years later still, and the capture of Lot as many months later as the ratio 1: 75 might require. I will not, however, anticipate the discussion of the precise date of the capture of the Ark. That subject is reserved for a future chapter. Meanwhile, it is enough for the present argument that the capture of the Ark and the death of Eli occurred about the time indicated in our Tables. And 1 Gen. xvii. 17. 1 Cf. pp. 71, 7. for I am married unto you: and I will take you, one Cf. pp. 70, 71, note 1. of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you Cf. p. 67, note y.
