On a Torn-Away World or the Captives of the Great Earthquake (Paperback)

The Stratemeyer Syndicate used the pseudonym Roy Rockwood for many of their books written for young boys. The name is most noted for the adventure books Bomba the Jungle Boy and the Great Marvel series. On a Torn-Away World is volume 6 of the Great Marvel series. Between college classes Mark and Jack build an airplane called the Snowbird. The boys head for Alaska to find a rare plant that only grows in the far north. A series of earthquakes sends a piece of the earth into outer space along with the boys and their plane. After several adventures the chunk of earth plunges back to earth creating a new tropical island.
