Tiptop 5: Cassette (Audio cassette)

"Tiptop" is designed for young learners beginning English for the first time. It is centred on the learner's personal world and builds on the developing concepts and interests suited to the age of the learner. The material reflects the belief that young learners need to learn through doing, while at the same time developing implicit grammatical awareness. It also incorporates subject matter from the rest of the school curriculum and contains activities which build on the learner's growing interest in and knowledge of the world. Each level of "Tiptop" contains 60 lessons involving a wide range of activities. The earlier levels centre on two "real life" characters, Mark and Angela as well as two fantasy characters, Count Horror and Boris the Cat. In later levels, the activities of the "real" characters and their friends play a major part, and there is an increasing amount of material dealing with the English-speaking world and its relevance to the learners' own environment. There is an optional workbook at each of the four levels, giving a wide range of additional activities which reflect and strengthen the language presented in the pupil's book. The casettes contain dialogues rhymes and songs and provide the basis for the listening activities which are a major feature of "Tiptop".
