Based on Rex Picketts novel of the same name, Sideways follows the road trip taken by two old friends; Miles (Paul Giamatti; American Splendor, Paycheck), a depressed would-be writer with a passion for wine-tasting, and Jack, (Thomas Haden Church; Spanglish), a happy-go-lucky, womanising, one-time TV star. It is the week before Jacks wedding, and the two are out to celebrate his last week of freedom. Miles selects a trip to the vineyards of the Santa Ynez Valley, which for him means re-visiting some old haunts and familiar faces.
