What is Information Management? (Paperback)

Information Management has become a widely applied concept in tackling information creation, retrieval and storage challenges that have emerged in the Information Age. However, the meaning of the concept is still being debated among both scholars and practitioners alike. Accordingly, it appears that the meaning of Information Management is proving confusing and intangible. This book, seeks meaning of Information Management through an investigation of the constructive elements that, from a historical perspective, has made up academic Information Management discourses within the past 40 years. The research is carried out based on the application of discourse analysis to chosen academic articles dealing with Information Management. This analysis, allows for the identification of eight main constructs for Information Management. The eight constructs are discussed on the basis of their reflection within current practical discourses for Information Management. Finally, conclusions are made in relation to how these constructs can function as common ground for Information Management scholars and practitioners, including which future perspectives exist for research within this field.
