Aspirin: Vitamin C may increase the blood levels and adverse effects of aspirin. Paracetamol: Elimination can be slightly reduced. Warfarin: Vitamin C may interfere with the blood thinning effects of warfarin and should be used with caution. Furosemide: Increases loss of vitamin C from the body probably due to increased water loss. Estrogens: In both oral contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy may decrease levels of Vitamin C. Proton pump inhibitors: Evidence suggests that omeprazole and other proton pump inhibitors reduce vitamin C levels. Nicotine and smoking: Smokers have lower plasma levels of vitamin C than non-smokers with similar dietary intake of vitamin C.
