Cooperative Mimo and Signal Space Diversity (Paperback)

Many techniques have been proposed in order to overcome the degradation effects of the radio channel and to achieve the higher transmission rate over time or frequency selective fading channels. Multiple antenna system is one of the solutions which can be practically applied to the real communication system nowadays. The diversity gain by using multiple-input multiple- output (MIMO) system is investigated in this book for both transmit and receive diversity. The transmit diversity can be obtained by the transmission with space-time block code (STBC) with the help of signal space diversity. The advantage of signal space diversity is that the diversity gain can be achieved without spending additional power or bandwidth. With signal space diversity, the new set of multidimensional signal constellations are constructed in order to cope with the fading channel. The aim is to reach to the performance of Gaussian channel by using this multidimensional modulation scheme. The receive diversity can also be obtained by the combining techniques when the multiple receive antenna system is applicable.
