Extrait: Toto est un groupe de rock americain forme dans les annees 1970 en Californie par Jeff Porcaro (batterie) et David Paich (clavier), auxquels se joignent Steve Lukather (guitare), Steve Porcaro (clavier), David Hungate (basse) et Bobby Kimball (chant). Au debut des annees 1980, le groupe atteint la consecration avec son album Toto IV, mais les medias americains se dechainent contre la formation. Cependant, il demeure populaire en Europe et au Japon. En 1992, Toto doit faire face a la mort accidentelle de son membre co-fondateur, Jeff Porcaro. En trente et un ans de carriere, Toto enregistre douze disques studio vendus a trente millions d'exemplaires et quatre albums live. Il remporte par ailleurs sept Grammy Awards. Des hits tels que Hold the line, Africa, Rosanna sont des references qui ont donne une certaine notoriete au groupe.
