Leire halt railway station was a small station serving Leire in Leicestershire. It was on the line originally built by the Midland Counties Railway in 1840, which shortly joined the North Midland Railway and the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway to form the Midland Railway. By 1925 when the halt was opened it was owned by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway. Leire is a village in Leicestershire, England. The name is thought to originate from the old British name for the river Soar, which has a tributary with a source south of the village. Present day Leire has a population of around 500.
