Brian Buttle was born in 1942 into a loving family in Bridgwater, Somerset. Noticeably artistic from an early age, he possessed a great determination to lift himself from his humble origins and was consumed by his passion for music, film and love of live theatre. He dreamed of working in the uncertain world of live theatre and this took over his life. Against many odds he succeeded when he eventually trained as a mature student at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 1982. This book is unusual for in 2010 Brian died of cancer; the notes for his story had only reached 1984. His ghost writer for the book, his friend Sue Pomeroy, completed this fascinating social history and compelling story of Brian's life and dreams. Through the highs and lows of his life, we follow Brian's story. It is truly a celebration of the life of an ordinary but idealistic man of music, theatre and dreams.
