In addition to this report,which is somewhat modified and supplemented by quotations from the leaders of extension work throughout the country,four other sections are included. Although it is recognized that a strong relationship and correlation exists between all five parts,yet for the sake of clearness,no attempt has been made to treat all of the sections as one unified work;on the contrary,they are written as distinct and separate groups, corresponding to as many different phases of extension activity. Part One treats of the " History and Development of College Extension Work." " The Present Status of College Extension Work " follows as Part Two. Part Three deals with the " Experience,Training and Preparation of Extension Workers." In Part Four," The Present Statue of Railroad Extension Work in Agriculture," it discussed. And in Part Five,the subject is " The Agricultural Extension Work of Industrial Companies and other Organizations." Method. The method that was used largely in the preparation of this work was that of the questionnaire.Supplementing the questionnaires that were sent to the agricultural colleges, railroads and industrial organizations,are quoted the personal chapter{Section 4opinions of the leaders of extension work in the United States. The personal equation has been used because of the newness of the field. Summary. This thesis does not represent a complete work. With new problems in extension arising every day and with new extension work springing up in various institutions and organizations,who come in contact with the farmer,it would be an almost impossible task to make a complete survey ...
