Degen and Me (Paperback)

A story of hope and dreams, Degen and Me, is a book about a young woman who lives in rural Caroline County, Virginia. As a child she is often lonely and finds it difficult to make friends. Helen has spina bifida and is confined to a wheelchair. She dreams of owning a horse and learning how to ride. Having watched a horse show on television which showed dressage, the art of guiding a horse through complex maneuvers, she decides that this is the type of riding that she wants to learn. She dreams of dancing with her horse in an arena. This dream of riding a dressage horse carries her through the difficult years of middle school and high school.
