Immediately following the births of John Gorham's children on the Barnstable town records, and also on the Plymouth Colony record, is given the marriage of Desire, the first child, but the Colony record omits the name of the man she married. BRADFORD NOTES By George Ernest Bowman (Continued from Vol. XVJ, p. 120) In the will of Benjamin Bartlett3 (Mary1 Warren, Richard1), made in 1691, and printed in our sixth volume, we find the following: "Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Rebecka Bradford All my Lands at North hill where my son Benjamin now Liveth and two thirds of the meadow I bought of John Soul at Salthouse Beach to her for life and at her decease I Give the same Lands and meadows to her two Daughters Alice and Sarah which she had by William Bradford and to their Severall heires forever." This Rebecca (Bartlett) Bradford in 1689 had become the widow of William3 Bradford (William2'*), the settlement of whose estate will be found in our sixteenth volume. Her daughter Alice Bradford married William Barnes, on 20 November, 1704 *; and Sarah Bradford married Jonathan Barnes, about 1708, but the date of the latter marriage has not been discovered. The two deeds of which abstracts are here presented prove these two marriages. They also prove that the widow Rebecca (Bartlett) Bradford married Robert Stanford before 13 December, 1709, the date of the first deed, and died before 3 June, 1742, the date of the second deed. I have long thought that the Rebecca Stanford, whom Caleb2 Samson (Henry*) married for his second wife, and this Rebecca (Bartlett) (Bradford) Stanford were one and the same person; but I have not as yet found conclusive proof of this ...
