The Other Boleyn Girl (Paperback, New Ed)

'Mary Boleyn catches the eye of Henry VIII when she comes to court as a girl of fourteen.'

Dazzled by the golden prince, Mary's joy is cut short when she discovers she is a pawn in the dynastic plots of her family. When the capricious king's interest wanes, Mary is ordered to pass on her knowledge of how to please him to her friend and rival: her sister, Anne.

Anne soon becomes irresistible to Henry, and Mary can do nothing but watch her sister's rise. Anne stops at nothing to achieve her own ambition. From now on, Mary will be no more than the other Boleyn girl. But beyond the court is a man who dares to challenge the power of her family to offer Mary a life of freedom and passion. If only she has the courage to break away – before the Boleyn enemies turn on the Boleyn girls…

"This compulsively readable novel is a wonderful account of the Tudor court. This is the finest historical novel of this year"
'Daily Mail'

"The very believable dialogue and detail take you all the way into the claustrophobic privy chambers of the royal palaces"
'The Times'

I am not proud to say that for the last five years I had bearly the time to read a book. But this changed everything! I started by reading the Boleyn Inheritance and was hooked from their. I then went on to reading everything by Philippa Gregory. This book is well written and the plot is fantastic it really will keep you up to the wee hours. The book although based on historical events is not completely factual so those looking for complete accuracy need to keep in mind that it is "historical fiction". A good buy no regrets.

Read this book! I can't stress this enough. This book is excellent. It is wonderfully written and a true joy to read. When I picked up this book I knew very little about this period of history and this book intrested me so much that I study this period as a hobby. The book is very close to the correct history of the time and because it is a true story is fasinates you even more. Even though most of us know the tragic ending of the book, Philippa Gregory is such a excellent writer that you are held in suspence throughout the book wishing she could go back and change the events of the past. The Other Boleyn Girl is an educational read but it is also incrediably intresting and easy to read.
