The scientific response to terrorism - the Government reply to the eighth report from the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee session 2002-2003 HC 415-I (Paperback)

This document details the Government's reply to the Science and Technology Select Committee report (HCP 415-1, session 2002-03; ISBN 0215013506) on how science and technological research is used in measures to counter the threat of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) weapons. Responses include that the Government accepts the need to continue improving the co-ordination of civil counter-terrorism research, and believes this can be best addressed through a cross-government research programme rather than the Committee's preferred option of a standalone Centre for Home Defence; and that the Government is confident that existing funding levels for the counter-terrorism programme are appropriate and that structures are in place to review and adjust to changes in the terrorist threat.
