The Clinical Smart Book - A Clinical Guide to Help Transition from the Basic Sciences to Clinical Medicine (Paperback)

Interested in quickly, thoroughly, and confidently evaluating patients in any medical clerkship? This book will enable one to do so. It is an unprecedented clinical guide intended to greatly facilitate the care of patients by the 3rd and 4th year medical students. It consists of bottom-line checklists (smart cards') in a small book format, which fits nicely in your pocket and can be pulled out at the moment you need it - at bedside. It covers things to think about before entering the patient's room and key things to address in a progress note or H&P for a patient, for all the different services. Also, the book covers rudimentary necessary skills such as interpretation and evaluation of EKGs, acid-base values, intensive care notes (and presenting these patients), ventilators, etc. while giving patient data organization techniques and medical acronym definitions as well. The intent of the book was to exclude all the inconsequential information (from the medical student's perspective). By eliminating the fluff, the smart cards focus on the really important basic concepts. This lays the foundation of understanding from which to build your clinical knowledge.
