Time Bandits - (1980) (DVD)

Time Bandits tells the story of a group of Dwarf-like robbers who leave their jobs with The Supreme Being for a life of crime with a map they’ve stolen from their workplace. The map holds the secrets to time holes in the fabric of creation, allowing the holders to go forward and back as they please.

The gang intends to use the map to hunt treasure, which they have little skill at, and to steal, at which they fail miserably. One such journey lands them in the bedroom of a young boy Kevin... who joins them on their journey.

Director Terry Gilliam transports them and us through time to meet such notables as Robin Hood, (leader of a gang of violent yet merry men), Napoleon, (a size obsessed drunkard), Agamemnon, (the ideal father figure), all the time pursued by the Evil genius, a Stan obsessed with modern technology, who would dearly love the map for himself.
