If you want to join every one of Tom Clancys characters on a vigilante mission against an Arab terrorist, read Dead or Alive. If youre not a Republican who defends your right to bear arms to the death, dont. I confess to reading, and enjoying Clancys early books. This was before he became a gung ho writer of propaganda. Former president Jack Ryans son, Jack Junior (what else?), is involved with The Campus. This institution was created with the sole intention of slaughtering terrorists. They do this without sanction, and at will. Even the people theyre trying to eliminate have a chain of command, including The Emir. Anyway, if you want to read about conspiracy, corruption, power, greed and madness, youll enjoy this. You will discover new ways to torture people, and to eventually kill them. You will discover the layout of caves in Afghanistan and if you love military jargon youll be in your element. This isnt really a novel. It should have been a comic.
