Paul Carrington Edmunds, of Halifax Court-House, was born in Halifax County, Virginia, November 1, 1836; was educated by a private tutor at home; was three years at the University of Virginia; graduated in law at William and Mary College, Williamsburgh, Virginia; practiced law for nearly two years in Jefferson City, Missouri; returned to Virginia in 1858, and has been engaged in agriculture since that time on his farm in Halifax County; was elected to the Senate of Virginia in 1881, and served four years; was re-elected in 1884; was a Delegate from the Sixth District to the Democratic National Convention at Chicago in 1884; was elected to the Fifty-first Congress, and re-elected to the Fifty-second Congress as a Democrat, receiving 11,615 votes, and 1,200 votes scattering.
