Englewo0d.--The last report of the Englewood library shows an increase of 2,191 volumes over last year and in circulation 4,273 over the previous year. In November every class from the fourth to the eighth grades in the five public schools came in turn to the library with the teacher and were given a brief talk on the place of the library in the community, the arrangement of the books, and the use of the card catalogue, followed by problems given the children in finding certain books in the catalogue and on the shelves. The children have used the library more intelligently-and in greater numbers since. A reception given to the teachers, at which about forty were present, has further increased the cordial relations between the library and the schools, and fewer teachers are asking to have books sent to the class room, preferring to send the pupils to the library instead. During the year the library received a gift of $50 for the purchase of books in foreign languages, and an endowment of $2,500 for reference books to be known as the Katherine N. Miller fund. Princeton.--The last report of the Princeton library shows an increase in circulation over last year of 3,058 and a decided increase in the reference and reading use of the library. The library work with the schools has nearly doubled, 7,847 people having used the reference library in the high school, which is under the administration of the public library, and 2,241 books were taken from that library for home use.
