It is folly to skimp in eating for the sake of saving, or to wear dowdy raiment. Have what you need, but do not buy things you do not need. But there is a joy in going without things--a fine tang in eliminating the superfluous.--Hubbard. It is very important that the Savings Directors in all parts of the country fully understand the complete duties of the Savings Division. It should be clearly understood that since the conclusion of the Fifth Liberty Loan we are no longer exclusively a Savings Stamp Organization. We arc organized for the promotion of all types of Government securities, both those that are sold direct and those which may at the present be purchased only through commercial banks. The following Government securities are now available: Thrift Stamps, Savings Stamps, Treasury Savings Certificates, Certificates of Indebtedness, and the various issues of Liberty bonds and Victory notes. These all have one feature in common--they are guaranteed by the Government and are absolutely safe. In other respects, however, these securities are so varied as to meet the needs of any investor.
