He gathers ferns and flowers, and puts their seeds and petals under a microscope, and talks very learnedly about them. I cannot argue with him about botany, because he knows more than I do about that science. I have another friend who studies geology. He breaks the rocks and stones with his hammer, and tells me their names. He knows their history, and composition, and uses, and has read all the books on geology he could find. I cannot argue with him on that science, because he knows more than I do about it. I have another friend who studies music. He can play half-a-dozen different instruments, and can read and play the most difficult parts at sight. I never contradict him when he makes a statement about the theory of music which I do not understand, because he knows more than I do about it. But if my three friends know more than I do in some directions, I know more than they do on other subjects. We have all worked hard in our studies, and gained large stores of knowledge. But if we live to be a hundred years old, we shall not have time or strength to read every book, and solve every problem, and understand every truth. 'We see through a glass, darkly;' we'know in part. ' There are mountain tops that we shall never climb, and ocean depths that we can never fathom. We soon reach the limit of our knowledge, and find a point beyond which we cannot go. But we shall not always be looking through the window. Some day our Father in heaven will take us from earth's dim twilight to eternal day.
