She left the neighbourhood shortly afterwards and he had lost sight of her. Carcinoma of Bladder. Case No. 5358, F., aged 39. This patient began to suffer from severe pelvic pain with frequency of micturition and slight haematuria in October, 1912. An exploratory cystotomy was performed at the end of January, 1913, and a large flat carcinoma involving the whole of the left side of the bladder was found. It was quite inoperable. The patient received six series of treatment between March and October, 1913. The growth slowly disappeared and all symptoms vanished. Her surgeon reported "I last saw this patient and cystoscoped her early in 1917. She was then perfectly well, and there was no trace whatever of any recurrence of the growth." Carc1noma Of Breast. The number of patients suffering from this disease and applying for treatment far exceeds that of any other malignant condition, but the cases in which operation is at all practicable are invariably advised to submit to surgical measures, with the result that those treated are nearly all in an extremely advanced state with extensive lymphatic involvement. It is interesting to note, however, that in some instances results are obtained which exceed the most sanguine anticipation, and patients, who have received an extremely grave prognosis from their medical attendants, have falsified these predictions in a very striking manner, and have remained comparatively free from the discomfort and distress usually attendant upon the disease, and been enabled to carry out their ordinary duties.
