Not illustrated. 1920 Excerpt: ...standardization of dental colleges can be best obtained by cooperation with the Bureau of Education at Washington, and by furthering an investigation by the Carnegie Foundation. The president suggested to facilitate the furtherance of dental teaching " that as soon as practicable a predental course of from one to two years in an approved college of arts and science be made a requisite for admission to university dental schools." And the association recommended to their governing bodies, the requirements of one year of prescribed academic work as a preliminary to the dental course to take effect in 1920; also that they be asked to establish a course of graduate instruction and a course of instruction for dental hygienists. The application of the University of Buffalo, dental department, for admission to the association was received and referred to the executive committee. The secretary was instructed to call the attention of certain university schools to the desirability of becoming members of the association. The suggestion to make the association a more inclusive organization that would carry more weight and authority by its affiliation with the National Dental Association provoked the hope that "the time would never come when the National Dental Association would have to do with establishing standards for dental schools." National Association of Dental Examiners. The thirty-sixth annual meeting of this association was called for August 5, 1918 at Chicago.
