The fact that the members are officials of the City causes them to realize the greater importance of their work and responsibility. The fact that there are only fifteen members of the Board does not necessarily mean that no more of the citizens shall be interested in their work. The Chairman of the Board appoints certain members of the Board as chairman of certain committees with instructions to them to select and appoint from the citizenship, who are not members of the Board, the remaining members of their committees. The Board meets every Monday night and the public is not only invited but is urged to be present; however, all matter of business requiring the expenditure of the funds are left up to a vote of the Board and their action is taken as final. At the present time, according to our information, there are but seven cities in the United States which have adopted the Board of City Development Plan; five of these are in West Texas, one in New York State and the other in the State of New Mexico; and we sincerely trust that before the date of the next Convention of the League of Texas Municipalities there will be-ten times the number operating under this plan, as we believe it the most satisfactory way of maintaining and operating the commercial organization of a city. If it is possible that Sweetwater may assist vou in any way in adopting and placing in operation the plan in vour city, we would like for you to remember that it will be a pleasure to her citizenship to have you call upon us.
