Does it convey no imputation, on the mercy of our Redeemer, to suppose that he would have subjected St. Paul, and his other faithful Apostles, to such unspeakable hardships, if" Bibles, in their naked simplicity," in manuscript or print, could, with any degree of effect, be substituted for their missionary labours? The example also of Christ labouring for the conversion of his own countrymen--how awfully is it despised or disregarded by our modern "Apostolic Institution." "Jesus went about all the cities and "villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching u the Gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sicku Mess, and every disease among the people." It would be an insult to the understanding of the reader to attempt to prove, that no part of the spirit of this, or the following passage, is discernible in the practice of the Bible...
