Within the entrance, a rock carrying 4 feet lies a quarter of a cable from Malmhaetta; and two rocks carrying 5 feet, one-third of a cable N.W. and S.E. from each other, lie about midway between Malmhaetta and Landaas point, ' the point outside Frydenborg. There is also a rock, carrying 13 feet, close to Landaas point. ' Kils, or Kiils fiord, a broad inlet westward of Kragerii, is on the whole pretty clear. The best entrance is southward of Taatii, where there are no dangers; the entrance between the islands north of Taatii and the mainland is foul. About 3 cables eastward of the Dybsundholms is a rock which dries at low water, and a rock Chap 1v. From Bratci, the fiord is clear up to Kil, but the inner part is narrow. KRAGER6 to LANGESUND FIORD.---Vessels coming from Kragerii through J omfrulands Renden or the channels to the northward may proceed eastward through the so-called outer or inner channels. The Outer Channel leads southward of Arii and the Askholms, and northward of the Straaholms. If coming from J omfrulands Renden (see page 1822), give Otangen a berth of about 2 cables, and steer for Flaesa, on which there is a black stone beacon with a black and white cross, passing southward of Ariibraat and Ariibo. Ariibraat, or Artibrot, is a flat rock, awash and marked by an iron pole, in the middle of a shoal patch about one cable in diameter lying between 3 and 4 cables eastward of Arii. Ariibo carries 10 feet, and lies a good 1%; cables north-eastward of Ariibraat. Give the Askholms and Flzesa a berth of about 1 cable, and pass...
