During the Gulf War, Iraq fired hundreds of Scud missiles at Israel. Israel, at the request of the allied forces, led by the United States, was asked not to respond to the missile attacks. Only a few years prior to the Gulf War, Iraq used similar missiles against Iran. These deadly attacks killed and wounded thousands of people and did enormous property damage. But in lsrael in this war, though thousands of residential apartment buildings were destroyed in densely populated residential areas, only one person was killed as a result of the Scud attacks.
