Besides, if dress and fashionable dissipation were the main faults, medical men recognize with regret the utter futility of attempting reform. Try it with any lady with whom an intimate acquaintance is maintained, one's wife or daughter, fof example, and see if anything short of absolute force will induce her to abandon corsets. She doesn't wear them tight, oh no; but if a fiat hand can be introduced between stays and skin it will be a wonder.
