The front rank faces to the front, the rear rank to the rear. The fileclosers place themselves one pace from the rear rank. The ranks separate to admit the mounted officers, and surround them by small arcs. To Form Square, from a Doable Column of Fours. The colonel commands: 1. Form square. 2. March. At the first command, the captain of the first company commands: First company, by file right. The captain of the tenth company commands: Tenth company, by file left. The captain of the fifth company commands: 1. Fifth company. 2. Front. 3. Bight--Face. 4. By file left. The captain of the sixth company, commands: 1. Sixth company. 2. Front. 3. Left--Face. 4. By file right. The captains of the second, third, fourth, seventh, eighth, and ninth companies command: (Such) company, forward. At the command, March, the companies that move forward will advance company distance. The flanks of the 2d and 3d sides are followed by the companies that file.
