Loser (DVD)

Kak Penn directs this semi-improvised mockumentary comedy set during a poker tournament in Las Vegas. The cast, working from a bare-bones script, includes Woody Harrelson, David Cross, Dennis Farina, Cheryl Hines and Richard Kind, as well as legendary film director Werner Herzog, playing a particularly mean character known simply as 'the German'. Real poker players also take part in proceedings and the final poker table is played 'for real', with the successful participant not only winning the game but winning the film as well!
