Energy Management and Control System Design for Hybrid Power Systems (Paperback)

, ,
The need for unrelenting increment in energy production, diminution in currently reliant fossil fuel resources, and the perception to plummet the CO2 emissions are the foremost factors for stipulating the growth of "Green Energy" generation systems based on renewable energy resources. Electrical energy requirements for many remote applications are too large to allow the cost-effective and constrained in reliable use of available stand-alone or autonomous renewable energy sources. In these cases, it may prove more feasible to combine several different types of power sources to form a system, is known as the "Hybrid" system. Hybrid Power Systems combine two or more energy conversion devices, or two or more fuels for the same device, that when integrated, overcome the limitations inherent in either. This book is a comprehensive study of various hybrid power system architectures and merits/demerits of each architecture. A new architecture using Motor-Synchronous generator set with Energy Management and Control unit instead of conventional inverters is proposed in this book to overcome these drawbacks.
