Do not be tempted or misled into buying this book by Shyam Mehta. It is in my opinion, not a yoga book and piggy-backs on the original 'bestseller" Yoga, the Iyengar Way" by his mother Silva and his sister Mira When you open the book on page 2 it reads: Shyam Mehta, 1952 - 2039 (typo or clairvoyant ??) Yoga: The Iyengar Way, Part II I should have known better (after all Shyam has written some odd interpretations of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali) - but the title of the book clearly states "Yoga: The Iyengar Way, Part II (not sure which is Part I) (REVISED AND EXPANDED EDITION) On the back cover - about the book...."Here one of the co-authors of Yoga: The Iyengar Way added all the additional knowledge you need to be able to help yourself with all the ailments that afflict mankind today. In my onion it is a waste of paper, money to have it printed, courier fees, bank charges to purchase the book and precious time wading through pages of Shyam's understanding of the subject of yoga. AND there are more empty pages in this book than I have ever seen - and each page carries his website address. He claims in the book ..." when I say I have been 'practising' for 57years, the quote marks are deliberate. I do the barest minimum practice to keep up my health. On average once per week going to classes, never practising at home...." It's odd to read his collection of sequences at the back - all classified Kundalini (Iyengar) yoga ??? His conclusion - "...are yoga asanas essential ? In my view not" He does say in the original book, that the benefits of yoga are more moral and spiritual than physical. I would like to say again - if you enjoyed the original book DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK !!!! If you are looking for an adaption and revision of the original work you will be sorely disappointed - well at least I was
